This course is a combination of video segments and hands-on skills stations that provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to act effectively and efficiently to enhance the chances of critically ill patients surviving cardiovascular emergencies. How the Course Works

Where to Go

  1. Park in the Sullivan Center parking lot directly north of the Mercy College main building. If that lot is full, there is a large parking lot available immediately to the west at the corner of Crocker St. and 7th.
  2. Use the crosswalk on 6th to come to the College Hill/Academic Center for Excellence building at 921 6th Ave.
  3. There is available parking in this lot for persons with disabilities. Otherwise, be aware that it is a tow zone.
  4. The entrance you will use is the South Entrance, which is the lower level adjacent to Crocker St.

  • This course is for students who have never taken a BLS Provider course before, their certification has expired, or they prefer the in-person class.

This course is the CPR course designed for healthcare providers and professional rescuers.  The class meets the requirements for CPR certification and for renewal of CPR certification for employees working in the healthcare industry.  This is also the required CPR course for students studying to become healthcare providers.  Successful completion requires satisfactory scores on a written certification exam and satisfactory performance of all skills evaluations.

NOTE: this class is offered as a renewal course. If you have never taken a BLS Provider course, then the proper course to register for, is the BLS Provider Initial Course. You will not have time for individualized instruction during these skills labs and will miss out on needed knowledge necessary to build a strong foundation in Basic Life Support.

The Part 1 online portion is required before you take your Part 2 skills portion.

Continuing Education

  1. For Continuing Education submission – please go to eLearning.heart.org and log-into your account. Click on the "Completed" tab and select the "CE Credits" pencil icon of the course that you would like continuing education (CE) credits for. You will then select the CE type, confirm your personal information and then click on "Save".
  2. It is the student’s responsibility to determine the current deadlines for CE submission and to submit the application for continuing education to the respective accrediting agency.

This course is a combination of video segments and hands-on skills stations that provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to act effectively and efficiently to enhance the chances of critically ill patients surviving cardiovascular emergencies. 

How the Course Works

  1. The course will consist of two components: 1) Pre-course work on your own 2) Skills at the college
  2. The link for your pre-course work will come in the confirmation email.
  3. This course requires a 2020 Provider Manual and completion of the pre-course work and assessment prior to class. Please bring proof of completion with you to class.
  4. The in-person component will be held on campus for practice, megacode testing, and the written examination.

Where to Go

  1. Park in the Sullivan Center parking lot directly north of the Mercy College main building. If that lot is full, there is a large parking lot available immediately to the west at the corner of Crocker St. and 7th.
  2. Use the crosswalk on 6th to come to the College Hill/Academic Center for Excellence building at 921 6th Ave.
  3. There is available parking in this lot for persons with disabilities. Otherwise, be aware that it is a tow zone.
  4. The entrance you will use is the South Entrance, which is the lower level adjacent to Crocker St.
  5. If you’re more than five minutes early, you might not be able to get in. So hang tight!
