Notes:	This course will begin with orientation on Thursday, September 11 at 6 pm. The course itself runs from Monday, September 15 through Thursday, December 18, 2025. The lectures will be in person Monday evenings at MercyOne Elkader, 6 pm - 10 pm. Skills class will be in person Thursday evenings at MercyOne Elkader, 6 pm - 10 pm.

This course is intended to prepare a student as a competent, entry level, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

This includes all skills necessary for the individual to provide emergency medical care at a basic life support (BLS) level with an ambulance service or other specialized services.

As part of the course, all students will complete a clinical internship in a hospital emergency department and will participate as an “extra” crew member on actual ambulance calls. Upon successful completion of this course, the EMT student will take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians' (NREMT) Cognitive Written Exam. Students must also pass skills competency testing. 

 EMT certification is a pre-requisite to progress to advanced levels of EMS certification such as Paramedic.

For the course starting in September 2025: Classes will be held Monday 6pm - 10pm (lecture) and Thursday 6pm - 10pm (skills) for 15 weeks.

Your instructor will provide further instructions on location and mode of class.
